Basketball Rules:

What is a Flagrant Foul?

A flagrant foul is when the defensive player fouls the offensive player in such a manor that is excessive, without going for the ball, or is in a dangerous way that could cause injury to the offensive player.  It is up to the referee to make the decision to call the foul a regular personal foul, a flagrant foul, an intentional foul, or a technical foul.
