Basketball Rules - The Bonus

You've probably heard the basketball phrases "the bonus", "in the bonus", "one and one" and "double bonus".  These phrases refer to free throw shooting.  When a team reaches seven team fouls in a half the other team gets to shoot one free throw plus a bonus free throw if they make the first shot.  If they miss the first shot the rebound becomes up for grabs.  This rule will continue each time a foul is commited by that team until the 10th team foul.  When the 10th team foul is reached in one half the other team gets to shoot the double bonus, meaning they get two free throw attempts regardless of whether or not the first free throw shot is made.  The team fouls reset in each half.
